Lola's Spices the beginning!
This journey began in 2011. As a busy teacher, it became a challenge to eat clean and healthy. We craved food with bold flavors, but we didn't always have the time to prepare meals that were satisfying with the bold flavors we love.
With few options, I began creating spice blends that could be used quickly to add the spicy, bold flavors we love, which were also low sodium, free of MSG, and did not contain "free-flowing agents" or other unpronounceable ingredients.

We offer a Cajun, Caribbean, and a Southwest Blend! Each of our three blends are regionally based flavors based on our travels and our favorite food experiences!

Lola's Spices Packaged Beans and Rice and Lentil blends
In 2014, we expanded to include quick-cooking beans and rice blends. We offer a Cajun Red Beans and Rice, Caribbean Black Beans and Rice and Southwest Black Beans and Rice.
Lolaâs Spices No Wimpy Flavors Lentils and Beans and Rice Blends are created in small batches by hand to ensure only the highest quality. We take great care in sourcing only the finest ingredients from like-minded companies.
We use only all-natural ingredients, never use MSG or other "free-flowing" or "anti-caking agents." Lolaâs Spices Lentils and Rice and Bean blends are quick-cooking, to accompany any meal or enjoyed on their own! Over medium heat, simply add water, stir in the pouch and cook for 15 minutes!
Lola's Spices Baked Fish and Southwest Lentils
Prepare Lentils: Rinse, drain and sort lentils. Next, bring 1 1/3 cup of water to a boil. Add lentils, seasoning from packet, and stir. Reduce heat to a low boil, cover with a lid slightly ajar and cook for 15-17 mins or until desired. Optional, add 1 cup of chopped Kale the last 5 minutes or sliced tomatoes.
1 Tbl Lola's Spices (any seasoning blend)
1 lb fish fish (cut into 4 oz. filets)
1 tsp Olive oil
Preheat oven to 350 F. Coat cookie sheet with olive oil or other. Place fish on oiled cookie sheet and drizzle olive oil lightly over fish and sprinkle Lola's Spices on both sides until well coated. Place in middle shelf in oven for 4 to 6 minutes. Fish will be done when you tamp down with fork and the juices are opaque.

Lola's Spices Southwest Grilled Redfish
1 lb Redfish or similar- snapper, drum or medium firm fish.
1 Tbl Lola's Spices Southwest
1 Tbl Olive oil
Prepare the grill for direct cooking and preheat to 350Â°F. Prep fish by brushing both sides with Olive Oil or similar to prevent from sticking. Place fish in basket and sprinkle both sides with Lola's Spices Southwest seasoning blend. Lock fish basket to secure fish. Grill the fish for 3 minutes flesh sides down, Flip the fish so that the scales are now face down on the grill, and allow the fish to cook approximately 4 to 6 more minutes or until just cooked through. Juices should be opaque.
Lola's Spices Cajun Chargrilled Oysters
2 Dozen Oysters
1 stick butter *melted,
4 gloves garlic *minced,
1 Tbl Flat Leaf Parsley *chopped
1 lemon cut into wedges and 1 tbl zest
1.5 Tbl Lola's Spices Cajun blend
1/2 cup each of Gruyere and Swiss
1/4 cup Parmesan *combine the cheeses
Bring grill temperature to 350F. Rinse and shuck oysters and set aside. Combine melted butter, garlic, parsley and lemon zest and spoon on to each oyster. Next sprinkle with Lola Spices Cajun, top with combined cheeses and a squeeze of lemon. Grill until cheese melts about 5 to 7 mins. Serve immediately!
Lola's Spices Fish Tacos
1 lb Fresh Cod, Mahi Mahi, Snapper, Drum, or Tilapia (cut in to one inch strips)
1 Tbsp. Lola's Spices (any Seasoning blend) 1 tsp olive oil or other 1 Package shredded cabbage 1 Package corn or flour tortillas
Directions: In a medium pan over medium heat add oil, Lola's Spices and fresh fish strips.Stir occasionally about 3 to 6 minutes or until fish is fully cooked. Serve on corn or flour tortillas or Mango Salsa!
Lola's Mango Salsa
1 Ripe Mango (diced)
1 tsp. Olive Oil
1 Jalapeno (finely chopped-for mild heat remove seeds) 1 Tbsp. Onion (finely chopped) 1 Tbsp. Red Bell pepper (finely chopped)
1 Lime (juiced) 1 Tbsp. Cilantro (chopped)
Combine all ingredients, stir and refrigerate for 20 minutes.
Lolaâs Spices Southwest Pork Tenderloin with Roasted Tomatillo Salsa
1.5 lb to 2 lb Pork Tenderloin
1 Tbl Lolaâs Spices Southwest blend
1 Tbl Olive Oil
Preheat your oven or grill to 400F. Remove tenderloin from package, if tenderloin is in 2 pieces, before twining them together, coat in olive oil and sprinkle all sides with Lolaâs Spices Southwest blend until throughly coated with spices. Next, twine together the tenderloins. Over medium high heat, sear all sides until browned. Preheat your grill or oven to 400F and roast in the pan for 20 to 25 minutes or until internal temperature reaches 145 F. Remove from heat, wrap or cover and rest for 15 mins before slicing. Serve with the Roasted Tomatillo Salsa and your favorite sides.
Weeknight Lola's Spices Chicken and White Bean Soup
1 Whole Chicken (rotisserie, off the bone and cut into chunks)
2 Tbsp Lola's Spices Southwest Blend
1 can of white cannellini beans or white navy beans
1 bunch fresh spinach or swiss chard, (rinsed and stems removed)
1 cup baby carrots (cut in half or thirds)
48 oz. Low sodium chicken broth
In a large pot, add broth and Lola's Spices Southwest blend, and bring to a rolling boil. Turn the heat to a low. Next, add carrots and greens and cook for simmer for 3 to 5 mins or until desired tenderness. Next, add beans and chicken and let simmer for another 5 minutes.
*garnish with your favorite soups toppings! We like Asadero, Queso Blanco, or Cotija with fresh cilantro and a wedge of lime.
Lola's Spices Caribbean Carnitas
5 lb Pork (boneless pork shoulder- Cut into large chunks about 3 inches)
3 Tbsp. Lolaâs Spices Caribbean Blend
Â¼ cup vegetable or olive oil
2 cups Orange Juice
5 Garlic Cloves (minced)
1 Tbsp. Cilantro (for garnish)
In a large bowl, whisk together orange juice, garlic, and Lolaâs Spices Caribbean Blend add Pork chunks and cover. Let mixture marinate for 3 hours or up to 24 hours in refrigerator and rotate pieces to ensure marinade is equally distributed to all pieces.
Heat grill and maintain a constant temperature to 250 F, arrange Pork and slow cook for about 2 to 2 Â½ hours. Remove Lolaâs Spices Pork Carnitas from grill, wrap in aluminum foil tightly and rest for 30 minutes cut, serve
Lola's Spices Southwest Beef Fajitas
1 lb Beef flank steak, skirt steak
1 tbsp Lola's Spices Southwest Seasoning Blend
1 tsp olive oil or other
1 lime (juiced)
1 Package corn or flour tortillas
Sprinkle Lola's Spices lightly on both sides of steak. Fire up the grill! Place steaks away from direct flames on clean grill grates until steak is thoroughly done about 6 to 7 minutes each side. Before serving allow meat to rest for 3 to 5 minutes and then slice. Serve with your favorite Fajita toppings!
Lola's Spices Cajun Beans and Rice
1-16 oz bag of small red beans
2 Tbl Lola's Spices Cajun blend
3/4 cup chopped onion
1/2 cup chopped red bell pepper
2 tsp olive oil
3 garlic cloves finely chopped
2 tsp chicken boullion
6 cups water
1 lb. Sausage sliced
In your pressure cooker, set to saute, add olive oil, vegetables and cook for 4 to 6 minutes. Add sausage until browned about 3 to 5 minutes. Next, add boullion, water and Lola's Spices Cajun blend. Change the setting to multigrain and set for 35 mins.
